Training
We provide training for BSAC qualifications at all levels, if you've never dived before please see the New Divers page, or if you're already qualifed please see the Already Qualified page.
Beyond the basic level diving courses we also teach Dive Leader and Advanced Diver, and run the lectures concurrently with the other courses. These courses teach/test not only your diving ability, but also your diving organisational skills.
On top of the basic and advanced diving skills we also provide training for BSAC's Skill Development Courses some of which we run in house (see below) and some we will be able to help you organise regionally. We run these courses throughout the year fitting them around the other training.
Skill Development Courses
Contact : -BSAC combined Nitrox:
This course provides training in the correct and more importantly safe use gas mixtures enriched with oxygen. Nitrox or EAN (Enriched Air Nitrox) is used to add extra bottom time on dives in the 25-40m range, or as an extra safety margin on deeper dives though use as a decompression gas. After an intensive look at the theory behind diving with Nitrox, including the physics, physiology and safe practices the practical session allows students to "taste Nitrox" and acquire skills highly valuable in all aspects of your diving.
Dive Planning and Marshalling
This course instructs students on the safe and enjoyable running of a dive trip. As a part of the old advanced diver syllabus it develops your skills as a trip organiser and people manager. Everything from the logistics of getting everyone from their homes to the dive site, to what to do if it all goes wrong is covered in this highly hand on course. Part of the course is running a trip where students take it in turns to prepare and implement dive plans, including modification of plans to cope with minor problems.
Practical Rescue Management
This course is an absolute must for anyone who regularly dives with the club. It teaches the management of a rescue scenario. Whilst we hope that the training your receive on this course is never used, the skills taught are so valuable to you as a diver, you will never think about diving in the same way ever again. This course, while having a very serious side is great fun and very informal. You will get the change to act as rescue manager as well as taking part in numerous rescues. You will also get the chance to go for an Oscar while acting as a casualty. This course is part of the Dive Leader syllabus, but is available as a stand alone SDC for those who wish to take it.
